Virgo is the sixth sign of the zodiac and represents practicality, organization, rational thinking, being of service to others, detail-oriented thinking and perfectionism. The dates for Virgo season begin on August 23rd and last until September 22nd.
Virgo is represented by the maiden, or the “virgin”, which is connected to the Goddess Persephone and the myth with Hades, God of the Underworld. In the myth Persephone is abducted by the God Hades and taken to the Underworld where she becomes Queen of the Underworld. Her mother, the Goddess Demeter, then made an agreement with Hades to let Persephone spend half the year in the Underworld and the other half on Mount Olympus.
Virgo is a mutable, earth sign which means that it loves change, flexibility, learning new things and remaining open to opportunities. This sign is ruled by Mercury which is connected to things like communication, the exchange of information, the intellect, travel and technology. Therefore, Virgo is connected to things like problem-solving, research, gathering information and direct communication.
Virgo Sun
The Sun in Virgo can make you someone who’s very pragmatic, efficient, introverted, analytical and reserved. The opposite sign of Virgo is Pisces which is connected to things like imagination, fantasy, illusion, spirituality and idealism.
Virgo is more connected to practical and rational thought whereas Pisces is more connected to imaginative and open-minded thinking. Because of this, Virgo can be seen as the more logical, grounded and realistic sign and Pisces can be seen as the more idealistic, imaginative and ethereal sign.
In the tarot, Virgo is connected to the Hermit which is associated with a solitary journey towards enlightenment, solitude, soul-searching and inner wisdom. The Hermit represents a process, or journey, of seeking wisdom by going within and connecting with your intuitive voice.
Virgo is a rational sign which is known for its efficiency, attention to detail, cautious approach and practical thinking. This sign is also connected to things like perfectionism and being overly critical of others as well as itself. This sign values organization, stability, being of service to others and sensibility.
Your Sun sign is just one aspect of you and so it’s important to consider your whole birth chart when trying to understand all sides of your personality.
