The Sun Tarot Card Meaning

The Sun is the twentieth card in the major arcana and represents happiness, clarity, success, vitality, joy, optimism and personal power. The Sun is represented by the number nineteen which breaks down to the numbers ten and one, so each number will have connections to the meaning of this card. The number nineteen is connected to things like determination, commitment, stamina and rebirth.

The Sun card is connected to the element fire and the zodiac sign Leo, as it’s associated with warmth, empowerment, magnetism and inner power. This card can also represent a huge realization or epiphany as well as clarity, understanding and the truth being fully revealed.

The planet connected to this card is the Sun, which is the ruler of Leo, and represents vitality, identity, energy, motivation and a sense of self. Because of this, the Sun card can also be connected to things like inner radiance, confidence, abundance and strength.

The Sun Meaning

This card can represent an energy of happiness and joy as well as having the ability to see things clearly in a situation. The Sun can be a good omen that “all is well” and is often considered to be one of the most positive cards in the deck.

The image on the card shows a Sun in the sky which is shining above a small child riding a white horse. On the card, there is a field of sunflowers facing the Sun representing the magnetic nature of the Sun and the attention it attracts to itself.

So the Sun can represent a joyous occasion or that there’s a reason to be happy, hopeful and lighthearted. This card can represent a time where you’re coming back to the light after being in the dark with the Moon card. This can mean that things are being illuminated and anything that has been hidden from you will now be exposed.

Therefore, when the Sun comes up in a reading it can represent pure joy, excitement, deep understanding, enlightenment and prosperity. Alternatively, the Sun can also represent things like inspiration, connecting with your inner child and an awakening. Always look to the cards around it for clarification or to get a deeper meaning.
