The Nine of Wands is the ninth card of the wands suit in the minor arcana and represents the “wounded warrior”, resilience, boundaries, a test of strength, being tired and worn out. This card represents a time when you’ve experienced a lot of challenges on your journey, and you may feel like giving up and throwing in the towel.
The Nine of Wands is associated with the number nine which is connected to things like endings, closure and the completion of a cycle. This card shows that while you may feel exhausted by your struggles, now is the time to hang in there and find the strength to push through, as you’re close to the end.
The Nine of Wands is connected to the element fire and the planet Jupiter, as it’s associated with inner strength, endurance, courage and fortitude. In love readings this card can represent things like setting boundaries or feeling worn out from challenges within a relationship.
The Nine of Wands Meaning
This card is connected to the archetype of the “wounded warrior” who is someone that’s feeling battle-worn by challenging circumstances which may also be repetitive in nature. It also shows that even though you’re feeling worn out, you may still want to achieve your goal with this situation and haven’t completely given up just yet.
The image on the card shows a wounded man bandaged up after battle while holding onto a wand with a grimace on his face. This shows that he’s been in multiple battles and is now wounded, but still standing. This card represents his last test of strength before he can reach his goal and so now is not the time to give up.
So the Nine of Wands can represent a situation where your faith and conviction will be tested and it will be up to you to decide whether this last battle will be worth it. This card can also be a reminder of your strength and ability to persevere in the face of adversity. It can be a message for you to realize just how strong you really are and to know that you can overcome any obstacle life throws at you.
Therefore, when the Nine of Wands comes up in a reading it can mean that the challenges you’ve experienced are weighing on you and that you will need to find the courage to push through one more challenge in order to achieve your goal. Alternatively, the Nine of Wands can also represent things like being guarded, feeling suspicious, paranoid and overwhelmed.
