Five of Wands Tarot Card Meaning

The Five of Wands is the fifth card in the wands suit in the minor arcana and represents competition, conflict, challenges, drama, arguments and change. The Five of Wands is represented by the number five which is connected to things like adventure, change, flexibility and broadening your horizons.

The Five of Wands is connected to the element fire and the planet Saturn, as it’s associated with overcoming challenges and obstacles in order to manifest positive results. This card represents fighting or competing for what you want with the intention to win. It can also represent the obstacles standing on your path towards victory and success.

The Five of Wands can show that you may experience challenge and conflict when it comes to achieving something. This card can also represent ego-driven behavior, drama and everyone being out for themselves. In love readings this card can show that there may be drama, arguments or conflict that’s driven by a passionate, and potentially selfish, desire to win.

The Five of Wands Meaning

This card symbolizes a time where you may need to compete with others in order to achieve a goal or get what you want in a situation. This card shows that if you want something you may have to fight for it and that this won’t be an easy process.

The image on the card shows five people who all have wands and are seemingly competing or fighting with each other. Although, it looks as though the wands aren’t being used to hit one another, just to create tension and chaos. This can show their inability to get along, agree or create harmony within the group.

This represents the sometimes frustrating aspects of change and trying to be the winner when you’re competing alongside others. This card can also represent everyone having a different opinion or view about something, making it impossible for you to be on the same page.

Therefore, when the Five of Wands comes up in a reading it can mean that you’re stuck in a battle to be the victor and the only way out is through. Alternatively, the Five of Wands can also represent things like gossip, misunderstandings, opposition and diversity. Always look to the cards around it for clarification or to get a deeper meaning.
