Five of Pentacles Tarot Card Meaning

The Five of Pentacles is the fifth card in the pentacles suit in the minor arcana and represents abandonment, insecurity, poverty, financial loss and a lack mentality. The Five of Pentacles is represented by the number five which is connected to things like change, challenge, adaptability and transformation.

The Five of Pentacles is connected to the element earth and the planet Venus, as it’s associated with financial needs, your sense of worth and supportive forces. This card can represent a time of struggle in your life or feelings of unworthiness and insecurity.

The Five of Pentacles can literally represent challenging financial times. But it can also be connected to your emotional and mental states as well as your connections with others. This card can represent poverty and falling on hard times where you feel unsupported and possibly even abandoned by the universe.

The Five of Pentacles Meaning

This card can mean that you may be feeling insecure and powerless in a situation in your life. The Five of Pentacles also represents that there’s always something to be grateful for no matter how small and that you may need to shift your perspective in order to cope with this situation.

The image on the card shows two people who are wounded and struggling to walk in the snow just outside of a church. Behind them a church window glows as if beckoning them to come inside and into the warmth. Although because they’re so focused on their struggle they miss the shining light and thus keep themselves stuck in an impoverished state.

So the Five of Pentacles can represent a loss of hope or being too focused on the problem instead of the solution. This card also signifies that there is support around you but you may need to change your perspective in order to see this. Everything in life is temporary, including challenges, and reminding yourself of this can be helpful.

Therefore, when the Five of Pentacles comes up in a reading it means that you may be experiencing struggles but that there’s also a way out being presented to you. So not to lose hope and to keep the faith. Alternatively, the Five of Pentacles can also represent things like surrender, a negative mindset and being spiritually guided. Always look to the cards around it for clarification or to get a deeper meaning.

The Four of Pentacles is connected to the element earth and the planet Saturn, as it’s associated with discipline, commitment, practicality and restriction. This card can represent the miser or an energy of not wanting to spend money out of fear, materialism and/or greed.

The Four of Pentacles represents a situation where you may be hanging onto something too tightly as you may feel like it gives you a sense of security. Although what this is really doing is preventing growth from occurring which can hold you back from developing, leveling up or evolving in some way.

The Four of Pentacles Meaning

This card can be a double-edged sword because it shows an ability to be good with saving money but it can also show greed and a fear of spending money. The Four of Pentacles also represents a fear of letting go and trying to control everything around you.

The Ace of Pentacles Meaning

This card represents a brand new offer, usually in the earth/material realm, which can be invested in and developed over a period of time. This card can symbolize a seed which if planted and nurtured can grow into something fruitful in time. Since it’s earth energy this means that part of this growth will be organic, just like a seed in the ground, so you may need to trust the process.
