The planet Mars in Astrology represents action, ambition, energy, competition, primal urges, anger and assertiveness. In the birth chart Mars represents how you take action, your instincts, passion and desire. Mars will also show how you express anger and how you assert yourself or take charge in your life.

This planet shows your drive and the fire that burns within you and motivates you to take action. Mars can also be a forceful, dominating energy which can manifest itself through aggressive and impulsive actions. In Roman mythology Mars is known as the God of war, agriculture and fertility and is seen as the protector of Rome.

Challenging aspects made to your Mars such as a square can show power struggles, competition and tension when it comes to expressing Martian qualities. Positive aspects made to Mars such as a trine can indicate harmonious, strong and supportive expressions of Mars.
