Three of Wands Tarot Card Meaning

The Three of Wands is the third card of the wands suit in the minor arcana and represents exploring new territory, expanding your goals, getting out of your comfort zone and results coming in. This card represents a step by step process of pursuing a goal or building a foundation which begins at the Ace of Wands.

So the Three of Wands can be seen as part of the building process along with the Ace and Two of Wands. The Three of Wands is associated with the number three which is connected to things like manifestation, communication and creativity. So this card can represent the manifestation process and the steps involved in this.

The Three of Wands is connected to the element fire and the planet Mars, as it’s associated with taking action, pursuing your goals and taking risks. This card can also represent an opportunity coming to you from a distance or even moving abroad to pursue an opportunity. In love readings this card can represent the developmental process of a relationship and that a foundation is being built.

The Three of Wands Meaning

This card represents the process of creating expansion when it comes to your passions, goals, desires and interests. This involves taking risks, expanding your comfort zone, learning new things and/or a process of trial and error.

The image on the card shows a man looking out over the expansive land before him with three wands at his side. This shows that he’s already achieved success with the goals he’s pursued and is now looking towards his next opportunity for growth. He can also be seen as waiting for the results of his efforts to show up and that while he knows they’re coming, they’re not here quite yet.

So the Three of Wands can show that you’ve taken action and are now waiting to see the results of your efforts. It can signify a waiting period and while you’re waiting you’re also looking into other opportunities to build and create growth with. This card shows the process of development and building a foundation with something you’ve been steadily taking action on.

Therefore, when the Three of Wands comes up in a reading it can mean that things are starting to come together or that they will be very soon in the near future. Alternatively, the Three of Wands can also represent things like waiting, considering other options and/or having to go back to the drawing board. Always look to the cards around it for clarification or to get a deeper meaning.

Upright

Following a step by step process, starting to see the results of your efforts, taking things to the next level, development, growth, expansion.

Reversed

Goddess

Goddess Yemaya

Yemaya is a Yoruban Orisha associated with the ocean, motherhood, protection, fertility and healing. Yemaya is seen as the “Mother of All Things” and is known for her nurturing, life-giving energies. The name Yemaya, or Yemoja, roughly translates to mean “Mother Whose Children are Fish”. She is seen as a Goddess connected to women, children, women’s mysteries, pregnancy and childbirth.

Yemaya is a member of the Seven African Powers which are a group of powerful Orisha’s that rule over everything that humans need. She is the daughter of the God Olodumare who is a creator God seen as the “Supreme Being”. Yemaya is often depicted as a mermaid and is connected with the tides of the ocean which also connects her to the Moon.

Yemaya is associated with birth and new beginnings and because of this she’s also connected to the New Year. In Rio de Janeiro Brazil many people gather at the beach on New Year’s Eve to honor Yemaya. People will dress in all white and give offerings of little boats filled with candles and flowers to the ocean in honor of Yemaya.

Signs that Yemaya is Calling You

Yemaya will show up in your life when you’re in need of mothering and need to feel loved, nurtured and protected. She can bring you the strength to honor your emotions and let them flow through you in order to bring about inner harmony and balance. Yemaya can also bring you creative inspiration, insight, wisdom and inner healing.

Yemaya’s sacred colors are blue and white and these colors are represented in imagery of her. If you start being drawn to these colors it could be a sign that she’s calling to you. Other symbols connected to her are cowrie shells, other seashells, mermaids, pearls, sea birds and ocean life. If you see these symbols showing up in your life a lot, it may also be a sign that she’s communicating with you.

If you feel called to spend more time near the ocean or just near a body of water this could be a sign that she’s guiding you. Other symbols of her are clam shells, coconuts, the number seven, dolphins, seahorses and peacocks. So if you start seeing any of these symbols repetitively it can be a sign that she is calling to you.

Working with Yemaya

There are many ways to work with Yemaya and as with any Goddess or deity creating some kind of altar no matter how simple or elaborate is a great place to start. For your altar you can add statues, artwork and/or items such as cowries shells, other shells, pearls, colors of blue and white, representation of a mermaid, etc. This is your way of creating a sacred space to connect with her energy.

You can also call to her by saying a simple prayer like “Yemaya, Mother of All Things, please bring me your nurturing, loving energy so that I may heal my emotional self.” You can create your own unique prayer or invocation to her as well, whatever feels right to you. Once you have called out to her allow yourself to sit in quiet meditation for a few minutes so that you can start to feel and connect with her energy.

Pay attention to any messages, feelings or sensations that come through at this time and over time you will start to become more familiar with her energy. If you feel so inclined, you can even write these things down in a journal which you can refer back to while you’re learning how to connect with Goddess energy. Always be sure to leave some kind of offering when working with any deity and with Yemaya you can leave things like flowers, coconut, seashells, candles, fruit, fish and perfume.

In the practice of Santeria sacred beaded necklaces known as “Eleke” are created in honor of the Orisha’s using their divine colors. You can also make one of these necklaces yourself in honor of Yemaya using the colors blue and white. You can even do things like volunteer for a beach clean-up or donate something to protect ocean life. Whatever is available to you and whatever you feel most called to in order to honor her energy. These are simple ways that you can begin connecting with the Goddess Yemaya and with time and practice you’ll be able to recognize her energy more easily.

Spirit Animals

Ladybug Spirit Animal

The ladybug spirit animal represents things like luck, love, wish fulfillment, joy, the inner child and divine feminine. Ladybugs are actually beetles and are also called lady beetles or ladybird beetles. If a ladybug lands on you or near you it can be a sign that good luck and good fortune are coming to you.

Ladybugs are known for their red colored, black spotted shells which are meant to ward off predators. This can be a message for you to protect yourself by becoming aware of your surroundings and setting boundaries. Ladybugs also hibernate and become dormant in the winter in order to conserve energy and survive. Because of this it can be a message for you to allow yourself to have a break so that you can take some time to rest and recuperate.

So the ladybug spirit animal can represent things like healing, blessings and being protected by the universe in a situation in your life. Ladybugs are carnivorous and because of this they’re highly valued by gardeners as they eat all types of invasive pests. Because of this the ladybug can be a message for you to use your natural abilities and skills to be of service to others.

Spirit Animals Meaning

You can experience the energy of spirit animals through symbolism in your reality or by actually seeing an animal in your physical world. Receiving signs of a particular animal multiple times, as in a pattern, can mean that this animal has a message for you or that their energy can act as medicine for you. If you see an animal in your reality, especially an animal you don’t see often or is rare to see, it can be a big sign with a more powerful meaning or impact for you at that time.

Spirit animals can act as a spirit guide throughout your life or they can come to you at times when you need their specific medicine, wisdom and/or energy. If you tend to see a certain animal a lot or you have always felt a special connection and kinship with a particular animal then it may be one of your spirit guides.

Ladybug Spirit Animal Meaning

When the ladybug starts to appear in your life it can mean that positive energy is about to enter your life. The ladybug can be seen as a guide and ally from spirit with a message of positive news and luck. They’re also symbols of change, transformation, metamorphosis and transition.

During the Middle Ages these gentle beetles were named “ladybugs” in honor of the Virgin Mary. First they were called “Beetle of Our Lady” and later this name was changed to “lady beetle”. The reason for this is because farmers at the time saw ladybugs as divine gifts from the Virgin Mary because they would eat pests and insure a good harvest.

Because of this the ladybug can be a good omen of miracles to come and that sometimes big miracles come in small packages. The ladybug is acting as a teacher for you at this time and is teaching you about positivity and lightheartedness. The ladybug can also be acting as a divine messenger who is bringing you messages from the spiritual realm to help guide you at this time.

Ladybugs also have wings which are hidden within their shells and these allow them to quickly escape from predators. So the ladybug can also be a message of going with the flow or moving in a different direction, especially if you need a quick escape. Lastly, the ladybug can be a positive message for your future and a reminder to not worry and to just keep moving forward, as luck is on your side.

Like with all spirit animals, the ladybug can have many different meanings for your life at a particular time. Listening to your intuition and gut instincts will help you to know which message the ladybug has for you.

This card can represent a crossroads of sorts where you’re at a point of pursuing growth and are trying to decide which path to take in order to accomplish this.

The Two of Wands represents the planning stages of expanding your horizons, charting new territory and achieving success with your goals. This card shows that you may desire growth and that you’re trying to find the best options to achieve this. In love readings this card can represent a desire to create growth in your current relationship or a desire to explore other romantic opportunities.

The Two of Wands Meaning

This card represents the process of creating expansion when it comes to your passions, goals, desires and interests. This card comes after the Ace of Wands which signifies a point on your path where that initial spark of potential has been ignited and now you’re trying to build upon that.

The image on the card shows a man holding a globe in one hand and a wand in the other representing his search for the best opportunities. He wears a red robe and hat which symbolizes his passion and drive to achieve success. In the background is a wide open and vast space signifying all of the opportunities available to him. Essentially, the world is his oyster.

So the Two of Wands can represent that you may want more but you’re still in the planning phase and haven’t taken action quite yet. It signifies a need to consider all of the options available to you and then be willing to get out of your comfort zone in order to pursue them. This card shows that you need to make sure the opportunities you choose align with your goals and will take you towards the success you’re wanting.

Therefore, when the Two of Wands comes up in a reading it can mean that it’ll be important to consider your long-term goals and whether an opportunity is going to get you there before you jump on it. Goddess

Goddess Brigid

Brigid is a Celtic Goddess associated with inspiration, fire, healing, creativity, poetry, smithcraft, sacred wells, rebirth and renewal. The name Brigid, or Brighid, means “exalted one” or “high one” and is Celtic in origin. She is seen as a Goddess connected to the hearth, home, the Sun and the beginning of Spring.

Brigid is one of the Tuatha Dé Danann which is a group of Gods known as the “Children of Danu”. She is the daughter of the God Dagda who is known as the “Good God” and mother to the warrior Ruadán who was slain in battle. She is most well-known for her connection to the festival Imbolc (Oimelc) which is celebrated on February 1st and signifies the arrival of Spring.

There is also a St. Brigid who comes from the Catholic church who also has a festival dedicated to her on February 1st known as St. Brigid’s Day. This Saint, who may have been a real person or just a figure in myth, is said to have founded a monastery in Kildare around 480 C.E. where a cathedral now stands.

Signs that Brigid is Calling You

Brigid will show up in your life when you’re in need of inspiration, rebirth and healing. She can bring you the power to reignite the fire within when you’ve been feeling down, bored, stuck or just uninspired by life. Brigid can bring you inner healing when you’re in need of self-love and self-care.

A well-known symbol associated with her is the Brigid’s Cross which is a four armed cross made from reeds, straw or rushes. It’s a symbol connected to both Pagan and Christian myth and is used for protection, warding off evil and blessings. Other symbols connected to her are the eternal flame, wells, lambs, serpents and snowdrop flowers. If you see these symbols showing up in your life a lot, it may be a sign that she’s communicating with you.

Corn husk dolls known as “Brideóg dolls” or “Biddy dolls” were made on Imbolc to represent Brigid and to help bring protection and blessings into the home. The dolls were then carried from house to house by children in order to bring blessings into the homes of the villagers. So if you start seeing any of these symbols it can be a sign that she is calling to you.

Working with Brigid

There are many ways to work with Brigid and as with any Goddess or deity creating some kind of altar no matter how simple or elaborate is a great place to start. For your altar you can add statues, artwork and/or items such as a Brigid’s Cross, a Brideóg doll, candles, symbols of snakes, Spring, etc. This is your way of creating a sacred space to connect with her energy.

You can also call to her by saying a simple prayer like “Brigid, Goddess of fire and inspiration, please help to reignite the creative fire within me.” You can create your own unique prayer or invocation to her as well, whatever feels right to you. Once you have called out to her allow yourself to sit in quiet meditation for a few minutes so that you can start to feel and connect with her energy.

Whatever is available to you and whatever you feel most called to in order to honor her energy. These are simple ways that you can begin connecting with the Goddess Brigid and with time and practice you’ll be able to recognize her energy more easily.

Goddess

Goddess Isis

Isis is an Egyptian Mother Goddess associated with magic, healing, wisdom, protection and fertility. The name Isis is the Greek form of the ancient Egyptian word Aset which means “throne” and so her name can mean “Queen of the Throne”. She is seen as a Mother Goddess with the power to heal the sick and is a great protector of women and children.

Isis is the daughter of the God Geb (earth) and the Goddess Nut (sky) and wife to the God Osiris (underworld) who is also her brother. She is most well-known for the myth involving the death of her husband Osiris and her resurrection of him. While Isis is mourning the death of Osiris she’s also using her magic to bring him back to life and after this she gives birth to her son Horus, God of the sky.

So Isis is also connected to the power of resurrection and divine birth as she is mother to Horus who became King after avenging the death of his father. Due to this she is also compared to the Christian Mother Mary who gave birth to Jesus, who is also seen as a kingly figure.

Signs that Isis is Calling You

Isis will show up in your life when you’re in need of healing, nurturing, mothering and protection. She can bring you the strength and power to not give up in the face of adversity. Isis can also call to you in order to remind you of your magical nature or your innate magical abilities.

So if you feel drawn towards learning about or practicing magic in some way, this can be a sign that she is calling you towards a magical path. Isis is connected to symbols such as the Sun, rattles, thrones, knots and cows so if you see these symbols showing up in your life a lot it may be a sign that she’s communicating with you.

Isis is also connected to dreams and dream-work as ancient people would engage in the practice of sleeping in her temples in order to receive guidance and prophecy from her through their dreams. So if you start having dreams with messages or symbolism of Isis and ancient Egypt this can be a sign that she is calling to you.

Working with Isis

There are many ways to work with Isis and as with any Goddess or deity creating some kind of altar no matter how simple or elaborate is a great place to start. For your altar you can add statues, artwork and/or items such as lapis lazuli crystal, incense, symbols of the ankh, pyramids, etc. This is your way of creating a sacred space to connect with her energy.

You can also call to her by saying a simple prayer like “Isis, Mother Goddess of healing, please bring me healing energy so that I may experience a rebirth.” You can create your own unique prayer or invocation to her as well, whatever feels right to you. Once you have called out to her allow yourself to sit in quiet meditation for a few minutes so that you can start to feel and connect with her energy.

Pay attention to any messages, feelings or sensations that come through at this time and over time you will start to become more familiar with her energy. If you feel so inclined you can even write these things down in a journal which you can refer back to while you’re learning how to connect with Goddess energy. Always be sure to leave some kind of offering when working with any deity and with Isis you can leave things like flowers, incense, honey, milk, wine or even something you make yourself.

You can even do things like volunteer at a children’s hospital and/or women’s shelter. Whatever is available to you and whatever you feel most called to in order to honor her energy. These are simple ways that you can begin connecting with the Goddess Isis and with time and practice you’ll be able to recognize her energy more easily.

Goddess

Goddess Gaia

Gaia is a Greek Goddess associated with the earth, fertility, abundance, grounding, nurturing and life-giving energies. The name Gaia translates to mean “land” or “earth”. She is seen as a Mother Goddess and the personification of the earth itself.

Gaia is a primordial deity and one of the first to be born at the dawn of creation. She is said to have emerged from Chaos which is the formless void that existed before the creation of the universe, immortals and mortals. Gaia is equivalent to the Roman Goddess Terra Mater who is seen as Mother Earth.

So Gaia is essentially seen as the mother of all creation and the first born deity. She has no parents which can signify her power as being a fully autonomous divine being. She gave birth to Uranus (heaven), Ourea (mountains) and Pontus (sea) and then married her son Uranus and gave birth to the twelve Titan Gods.

Signs that Gaia is Calling You

Gaia will show up in your life when you’re in need of nurturing, grounding and balancing energies. She can bring you back down to earth when you’ve been doing too much or dealing with lots of problems and challenges.

Being drawn to spending more time in nature or getting a lot of animal signs/omens can be signs that she’s calling you or guiding you in some way. If you feel called to start doing work to protect the environment or animals this can be her calling to you. Feeling drawn to things like gardening, doing outdoor activities or even eating healthy foods and doing a physical detox can also be signs that she’s communicating with you.

Gaia was also the original deity associated with the Oracle of Delphi where Gaia, instead of Apollo, would speak the oracles. So if you start feeling your intuitive senses coming to life, having prophetic dreams or are becoming increasingly more aware and sensitive, this can be a sign that she is calling to you.

Working with Gaia

There are many ways to work with Gaia and as with any Goddess or deity creating some kind of altar no matter how simple or elaborate is a great place to start. For your altar you can add statues, artwork or even items from nature and the earth itself like leaves, flowers, crystals, rocks, shells, bones, etc. This is your way of creating a sacred space to connect with her energy.

You can also call to her by saying a simple prayer like “Gaia, Primordial Goddess of the earth, please help me to ground myself so that I may achieve inner balance.” You can create your own unique prayer or invocation to her as well, whatever feels right to you.

Always be sure to leave some kind of offering when working with any deity and with Gaia you can leave things like flowers, honey, shells, seeds, fruits, vegetables or even something you make yourself.

You can even do things like plant some flowers, create your own garden or volunteer at an animal shelter. Whatever is available to you and whatever you feel most called to in order to honor her energy. These are simple ways that you can begin connecting with the Goddess Gaia and with time and practice you’ll be able to recognize her energy more easily.
